My approach to the work of both counseling and consultation centers around a combination of growth and acceptance. Each of us are constantly changing; the shape of that change is up to us. I see our work together as a collaboration toward identifying and navigating where you are and what comes next to help you shape and embrace yourself and the life you live.
I've been working in counseling and educational environments for well over a decade, providing services and training to individuals, students, families, and professionals in a variety of settings in the roles of both counselor and educator -- and even counselor educator! My areas of focus are related to identity and lifespan development, the use of language and labeling, and the creation and maintenance of affirming and inclusive environments, policies, and practices. I have extensive experience with the LGBTGEQIAP+ community. You can feel comfortable referring to me as either Stacy or Dr. Pinto -- whichever language makes you most comfortable. If you're curious to learn more about me, I hope you'll find the resources below to be helpful!
I view our life journey as a collection of experiences that influence who we are and how we see the world. We often experience (and can expect) to deal with hurdles and roadblocks that can make some days unbearable. This is where counseling comes in. I love joining alongside others and empowering them to keep making steps when they don’t think they can. I will always admit to any client that counseling is hard and applaud anyone who takes the step to reflect inward and grow. My hope and main priority are to create a space where ALL individuals feel safe enough to be their authentic selves.
My clinical and scholarly specialties and expertise lie in grief counseling. Loss is a universal experience that we all share, but grief is unique to the individual as it alters our world. Often, we see grief to only involve the death of a person or pet, the end of a relationship, or change in financial status or material items. However, loss encompasses so much more and can be challenging to process. To support my own growth in grief counseling, I stay connected and engaged with local organizations, such as Judi’s House for Grieving Children and Families and national associations such as the Association for Death Education and Counseling, as well as the National Alliance for Children’s Grief because I believe that stay connected with others passionate about this work will only fuel my personal and professional development and enhance my work with clients, students, and community partners.
